Because there are next-door columns and walls on one side of the passage, type-2 solutions are inaccessible from all sides. Two L-sections are installed at the two corners of a beam as depicted in Fig. 12, since one face of the column that is accessible does not provide access to all sides. To have connections between the beam and column, an L-section is provided throughout the length with the stiffener connecting both columns and beams. These sections are connected with bracings with a spacing of 450mm from top to bottom of the column.

Figure 13 shows the steps taken to improve the type-2 columns. Before starting the re-strengthening process, the load is first transferred using temporary supports, and the procedure of surface preparation is made. Then, the L sections are placed on either the corners, connected the main sections with bracings, stiffeners are provided to transfer the loads from the beam to the columns, and finally, the procedure is completed with the pouring of concrete.
