6. Conclusions Any construction requires engineering oversight; failure will result in minor to major damages, and in some cases, it could even result in the collapse of the structure. The present study is a peculiar case observed in the Indian subcontinent and portrays the importance of the role of an engineer and complete investigation before the extension of a structure with limited technical knowledge is required. The study also details the difficulties and challenges in executing the recommended retrofitting strategies. Even though every effort was kept bringing the structural life back to its design life period, there could be multiple reasons for not reaching the expectation as retrofitting can still be not monolithic.
