3. It was established that LSP leads to an increase in the arithmetical mean height (Sa) and the maximum height of the irregularities (Sz), which is associated with the formation of microrelief under the influence of a shock wave. These changes, which have a significant impact on the tribological characteristics, highlight the need for careful optimization of the LSP parameters. To achieve the maximum effect of increasing wear resistance, it is necessary to take into account the balance between increasing surface hardness and changing roughness parameters, selecting processing modes taking into account the specific operating conditions of the bearing unit. 4. The increase in wear resistance of AISI 440-C (Russian equivalent 95 Х 18 Ш ) steel after LSP is attributable to a confluence of factors, including the development of a gradient structure, an augmentation in microhardness. The gradient structure promotes uniform distribution of contact loads, thereby reducing stress concentration. A rise in microhardness leads to greater resistance to plastic deformation. The results obtained in this study are of great practical importance for the development of new technologies for the production of rolling bearings with increased service life and reliability. The implementation of LSP has been demonstrated to effectively reduce rolling resistance moment, thereby significantly extending the service life of bearings. Subsequent research endeavors should prioritize a comprehensive examination of the microstructural changes and residual stress distribution in the surface layer, in addition to the optimization of LSP modes for particular operating conditions.
