the associated effects of these geometric parameters are, since and l h / 3 ratio are related to the geometric shape and size of the frame-like component. It can be summarized that increasing leads to obtaining deceasing SERR values (Fig. 2). This behavior results from a decrease in the normal acceleration of the various points on the bar, 1 2 DD , as the distance between these points and the point, 5 D , shortens (this leads to decrease in the intensity of the corresponding inertia loading). The increase of l h / 3 ratio, however, increases the risk of destruction of the frame-like component since the SERR grows (this means that at a certain l h / 3 ratio, the SERR will reach the fracture toughness and the lengthwise crack will start to propagate).
Fig. 4. SERR versus parameter, , at / 0.9 1 3 l l (graph 3). Another parameter of the geometry of the frame-like component that is investigated here is the ratio, 2 3 / l l . The parameter, , is investigated too. The behavior of SERR when changing the ratio, 2 3 / l l , and parameter, , can be observed in Fig. 3. The graphs show that increasing the ratio, 2 3 / l l , exposes the moving frame-like component to the risk of failure as the SERR increases. Increasing the parameter, , also has a negative impact on safety, as the SRRR increases (Fig. 3). Other two parameters related to the frame-like component geometry and the mass distribution across the thickness of the bars are the ratio, 1 3 / l l , and the parameter, , respectively. Graphs illustrating how the SERR behaves when these two parameters change are plotted in Fig. 4. The conclusion that can be drawn from examining the graphs in Fig. 4 is that the increase in the ratio, 1 3 / l l , and the parameter, , threatens safety because SERR increases. 4. Conclusion The analysis developed in this paper can be used to investigate lengthwise fracture in functionally graded frame like planar components of complex geometric shapes moving in the vertical plane. The frame-like components under consideration represent systems of rigidly connected rectilinear bars with non-linear elastic behavior. The number of the bars and the angles at which they are assembled are arbitrary. The law of motion of the frame-like 0.3 1 3 l l (graph 1), / 0.6 1 3 l l (graph 2) and /
