Specifically, the labor costs used for the calculation are those derived from Service Provider offer for the public tender for the aforementioned activity and were differentiated into 230 € / day for the technician and 246 € / day for the inspector. As regards general expenses, these were considered equal to 17% while the profits equal to 8% . The expected costs for materials and equipment in the individual sub-phases were also derived from the Service Provider offer for the public tender while the rental and freight costs for the "inspections" sub-phase of Level 1 of the Guidelines have been calculated equal to € 500. Overall, a total cost of around 1.4 million € is estimated for the three phases, to which must be added the costs of implementing the resources by the Municipality of Rome for the supervision of the works. 5. Conclusions and future development The need for more efficient utilization of transportation infrastructure is a challenge in all Italian cities. After the recent bridge collapses and malfunctions, today the importance of adopting standardized BMS and SMS has increased, in order to guarantee safety and adequate travel times especially in a large capital. Municipalities need to adopt BMS for their bridge stock in order to cope with gradual deterioration, growing traffic demands and increased frequency and magnitude of natural hazard due to climate change. The study illustrated the possible transition of the Municipality of Rome to the Bridge Guidelines. The foregoing will require a planning strategy for the operational phases and an investment in terms of economic and personnel resources. Starting from the present work, various future studies can be carried out such as the development of the planning of level 3 and 4 of the Bridge Guidelines but also the implementation of procedures for integration with a Safety Management System (SMS) and the consequent the improvement of organizational resilience, incident response and management and business and operations continuity.
