According to [19], when averaging tangential stresses, we have:

The criterion of maximum tangential stresses to determine the direction of crack growth is:

,

(9)

By analogy with the experiments carried out by Matviyenko (2011) for compressing a disk sample with a central crack, the directions of Matviyenko (2011)crack growth for different parameters of loading types were calculated by the criterion of maximum tangential stresses. Comparison of the results of the experiment on finding the direction of crack growth, the theoretical results of the known criterion of maximum tangential stresses (10), the results of (7) using the averaging of stresses in the pre-fracture zone, and the results of the proposed criterion (8) taking into account angular distribution made.
