Rock mass analysis is conducted through both conventional in-situ geomechanical characterization and Mobile Mapping acquisition (ARCHITA) of photographic, thermographic, and geometric data. All collected information is subsequently processed using the MIRET-Tunnel AI software to support the evaluation of the quantitative data needed for the Global and Local risk classes. III Fabre Conference: Existing Bridges, Viaducts, and Tunnels: Research, Innovation, and Applications Integrated Analysis of Geological Data and Mobile Mapping Surveys for Risk Classification of Unlined and Partially Lined Tunnels Federico Foria a, *, Serena Pantaneschi a , Mario Calicchio a , Gabriele Miceli a a ETS Srl, Via Benedetto Croce, 68, 00142 Rome, Italy Abstract Unlined tunnels are excavations in rock that lack artificial lining, where temporary support may become the permanent structure. The long-term stability of these works is crucial, as they rely primarily on the properties of the rock mass to sustain themselves and manage induced load variations. In Italy, nowadays, road tunnels are always required to have a lining to comply with safety regulations; therefore, these types of structures are quite rare and mostly represent historical infrastructure. The Italian Guidelines for classification and management of risk, safety assessment, and monitoring of existing tunnels (HCPW, 2022b) have been developed primarily with reference to lined tunnels, employing a multi-level approach that considers various quantitative parameters to evaluate Global and Local risk classes. For unlined tunnels, however, the recommended approach appears qualitative and based on subjective criteria, making systematic application difficult.
