8. Analysis result We report the results of the SLC analyses in terms of longitudinal Fx and transverse Fy constraint reactions through the use of graphs with histograms representing the current state and the two design solutions. a b

The red bars refer to the existing structure, the purple ones to the effects on the strengthened structure equipped with lead-core elastomeric isolators, while the cyan ones refer to the structure with fixed longitudinal constraints on pier 6 and fluid-viscous dampers on abutment 2. The transparent histograms surrounded by a black border represent the heights of the piers. The graphs showing the force-displacement trend of an LRB device on pile 6 and that of the viscous fluid device in relation to a time history have been reported. The graphs showing the time trend of the input energies and the energies dissipated by the two systems in the two design solutions are shown. The eccentricities of the axial stresses at the base of foundation produced by a time history obtained from the three finite element calculation models are also reported. a b
