Besides having a similar main failure mode, this numerical analysis also succeeded in modeling several other failures such as core shearing, core crushing, and delamination accurately in comparison to the test results. Figure 6 shows that core crushing at the T-joint occurs in the middle area of the horizontal sandwich and the vertical sandwich crippling area (shown in red color). Meanwhile, core shearing only occurs in the vertical sandwich crippling area near the sandwich skin (shown in red color).
