The following table 1 summarizes the state of the art of the census activity of bridges and viaducts managed by the Provinces and the Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria.

3. INSPECTIONS AND DRAFTING OF DEFECTIVE SHEETS In the month of August 2021, the Calabria Region, in collaboration with the Consorzio FABRE, started the inspection and drafting of the defect sheets for the achievement of the not ANAS road network monitoring operational plan of Level 1 evaluation on a sample made up of more than 50 bridges, selected in agreement with the Provinces and the Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria from among those considered to have the greatest structural, seismic and hydraulic risk. Upon completion of the inspections, the assessment of the Attention Class of the bridges making up the selected sample will follow and the consequent achievement of Level 2. Starting from January 2023, a survey activity based on experimental techniques will also be launched which, subsequently, will allow to apply the methodology, developed and tested on the selected sample, for the assessment of the Attention Class of all the bridges belonging to the road network not ANAS of the Calabrian territory.

Furthermore, with the support of the FABRE Consortium, the development of a methodology for the prioritization of level 4 assessment and intervention operations for works falling within the High Attention Class as well as its application, including level 4 assessments, on a specially selected sample of works. 4. CONCLUSIONS With the implementation of the "Piano operativo monitoraggio ponti e viadotti delle reti stradali non ANAS”, the Calabria Region intended to provide support to the managing bodies of not ANAS road networks in the activities of classification and risk management, safety assessment and monitoring of bridges existing. By means of a similar project, the Calabria Region aims to overcome the typical approach of the past in which the planning of interventions has always been of a bottom-up type (on the basis of the reporting of dangerous situations by the authorities, the Region proceeds to financing) and to review its role as planning body in a more rational perspective, aiming to know the state of risk of all bridges and viaducts so as to be able to allocate available funds to situations of greatest risk.
