3. Measurement description 3.1. Gage instrumentations Four welded specimens are instrumented with six uniaxial strain gages as presented in Figure 2(a): • side C1D1: gages at the weld toe (J1) and at 8 mm (J2), • side A2B2: gages at the weld toe (J5) and at 8 mm (J6), • side C2D2: gage at 0.4 t = 3.2 mm (J3) and at 8 mm (J4).

3.2. Digital Image Correlation
Digital Image Correlation (DIC) has been used on all instrumented samples. The speckle pattern is applied near the weld toe A1B1 as shown on Figure 2b. To analyse the DIC measures, virtual gages are considered J5b and J6b at the same location of the J5 and J6 gages, i.e. at the weld toe for J5b and at 8 mm for J6b. 3.3. Residual stress measurements Residual stress measurements were performed before and after overload on the surface by X-rays method with a circular impact spot of 2 mm diameter following the EN 15305-2009 standard [3]. The location of the measurements is shown on Figure 3. The transversal and longitudinal stresses were measured.
