3.3.2. Application The application of the product was carried out in the following stages: • surface cleaning; • application of the glue; • laying of the rubber bands; • application of a second layer of glue to overlap the rubber band; • application of the primer.

The cleaning was carried out by eliminating sharp edges and roughness to facilitate the application of the bands. The adhesive was composed by mixing the two components and applied with a trowel and has a hardening time of 24 hours. The bonding of the bands took place through the application of a first coat of adhesive, to which the rubber band was adhered. A second coat of sealing adhesive was then applied. Complete hardening is reached 7 days after laying. Subsequently the primer was applied in a diffuse manner by roller and brush on two successive layers, finally a silica sand spray was given.

3.4.1. Type of Coating In this case, the coating was made using the following materials: • two-component epoxy primer in aqueous dispersion; • three-component epoxy-cement primer; • chemical fixer for masonry; • two-component primer with filler.

The coating of this specimen was made using two different types of primers usually used in construction as a support for subsequent waterproofing layers. The epoxy-cement primer was applied in two coats, the first to ensure filling of the pores present. The second, on the other hand, was enriched with silica sand as a finish. The joints of the specimen were sealed with the use of chemical fixative. Finally, the thru bolts and threaded rods were treated by applying the two-component filler primer.
