2. The Corpus Domini Bell Tower
The Corpus Domini Basilica in Maddaloni is situated in the oldest part of the city called Olivet, near the ancient S. Aniello Church, on the slopes of the Maddaloni Hill (Figure 1). The Basilica was built in the eighteenth century on pre-existing late sixteenth (Sarnella, 2000), the bell tower was designed by Orazio Salerno in 1781, on the right side of the main entrance of the church, about one meter from the front side. A wooden model of the tower, along with the graphics and the technical report, was commissioned to Orazio Salerno. The first order, of dorico style, shows three couples of buttress and a round arch; the second order, of Ionico style one arch window with gable between coupled buttress, inside the gable there is a marble round with moulding having vegetal figures and in the center two puttos with a goblet and a host with the rays in the middle, symbol of the church and of the SS Corpus Christi congregation; the third with the arch window between butress and coupled columns, and in the upper part the round drum and finally the dome (Figure 2).
