Figure 3: J-integral distributions as a function of dimensionless distance from the crack tip. Distributions of the governing parameter of the elastic–plastic crack-tip stress in the form of the plastic SIF are presented in Fig.4. As it follows from these results the plastic SIF distributions depending on loading conditions considered here has the same trend for both MN and FRC crack tips.
Figure 4: Plastic SIF distributions as a function of dimensionless distance from the crack tip. Also, it should be noted that the plastic SIF has more stable values in the wide range of normalized crack tip distance 3 < ( r σ 0 /J ) < 12 with respect to the J-integral distributions presented in Fig.3. The plastic SIF is sensitive to the biaxial loading effects and practically does not depend on the crack tip distance. For both MN type crack tip and the crack tip with FRC, the values of the plastic SIF under the equibiaxial tension-compression ( η = -1) are higher compared to those under equibiaxial tension ( η = +1). Significant gradients of the plastic SIF distributions are observed in the range of crack tip distance when ( r σ 0 /J ) < 3. Recall that for an infinite cracked body the dominance zone of HHR stress fields is in the range of normalized crack tip distance 3 < ( r σ 0 /J ) < 12.
