Fig. 2. ISTAT municipal risk profile for Popoli Terme (original document in Italian, http://www.istat.it/it/mappa-rischi). The panel shows data on seismic classification, hydraulic hazard zones, demographic distribution, housing characteristics, and the number of cultural heritage assets. 4. Methodology 4.1. Data Collection The data collection phase for the elaboration of a quantitative model linking tourism dependence and seismic scenarios was designed to integrate multiple sources of information in order to comprehensively describe both the seismic hazard and the socio-economic dynamics of the study area. Specifically, data acquisition focused on six thematic domains: i. Tourism Demand and Supply : Data on tourist arrivals and overnight stays in hotels and extra-hotel facilities were collected from official ISTAT statistics and complemented by information on private accommodation capacities derived from the most recent census data available. ii. Seismic Hazard Classification : The seismic hazard of each area was identified through the official classification based on national regulations and technical standards (NTC2018). iii. Demographic Trends : A time series of resident population was reconstructed for the considered municipality, enabling the analysis of the demographic dynamics and potential vulnerabilities linked to depopulation. iv. Building Stock : Data was gathered on the total number of residential units and their occupancy status (primary residences, vacant dwellings, or other uses), providing insight into the availability of accommodation and the potential adaptability of the housing stock to tourism-related uses.
