As shown in Figure 4, the same happens for the entire deck elements, numbered, in each span, from the left to the right. This model is the basis for the definition of all the related geometrical data. In this way, both bridge owner and all the involved technician can refer to the correct element, avoiding mistakes. 3.4. Management of actors’ roles In the operative flux, each actor should operate according to his specific task in the working chain. In order to speed up communication among actors, a proper notification system supports users defining the moment when own work starts, so that each of them is aware of the project progress and can proceed. In the platform, alert and mails inform users of the assignment of a new project each time the bridge owner or another technician shares the bridge folder or a single activity to them, such as every time an activity is concluded. In addition, they inform the bridge owner when new Overall Attention Class is available for planning the next administrative phases and for transmitting new data to Ministry through AINOP. Another important aspect is the respect of the defined role of each actor. As underlined before, inspection activities require generally more than one specialist, to analyse both structural and hydrogeological context. For this reason, even if many specialists can input data in the platform, only the principle user of the activity can deliver the result to the bridge owner. In addition, it is important to underline that the bridge owner knows all the activated projects but can see inspection results only after the delivery, exactly how it would be in a traditional process. As a result, actors’ cooperation is simplified and managed through the Guidelines levels. Figure 5 illustrates the explained flux.

3.5. Data tracking and responsibility When many figures work together, with the possibility of entering and changing data, each one must be responsible of his own analysis and decisions. The solution adopted in the platform is the introduction of a data tracking system to guarantee transparent operability according to well-defined access permissions. The point of major attention is the editability of data which requires a validation mechanism. Each activity of the platform is marked with the name of users that cooperate entering data, whether census, inspection, or both: all of them are co authors. Moreover, date and name of author of last change is reported. In addition, after the confirmation phase, the activity is added, with no possibility of elimination, to the bridge archive of activity. At this point, information and associated authors cannot be delated. Thus, the bridge archive describe the historical memory, reporting the evolution of the state. For the same principle, no bridge can be delated from database if it includes even just one activity. In summary, confirmed data remain tracked in the platform, to guarantee a safe and transparent working environment.
