3.4. Data management and data fusion Currently, about 1.2 Tb per month are transmitted via the GSM network. The network manager is planning (in the absence of fibre) to switch to satellite data transmission, since the amount of data is expected to increase: (i) it would be the most economical and effective choice, considering that a satellite backup (such as Starlink) can also be provided; (ii) it would be the only choice that can be used in the event of poor coverage. The data is transmitted on a dedicated FTP . For archiving, the platform is based on a criterion according to which, downstream of the analysis, the data are 'filtered' by deleting those that do not show any variation with respect to the historical series (the parameters within which to discard are still to be defined). The retained data are managed with Blockchain criteria. Note that the stored data will be no longer stored on ftp but on a dedicated cloud. The assessment of the data fusion approach ( Hassani et al., 2024 ) is still in progress, but the following main aspects have been considered for the monitoring system: - Aim: the monitoring system is devoted to knowing the structural behaviour of the bridges over a long time period to detect any possible anomalies in the structural response that can be referred to as damage, obtaining an early warning. Both global and local monitoring of the structure response have been considered with type and location of the sensors
