4. Result and discussion 4.1 Reliability analysis with material uncertainty
To investigate the trend of reliability with the increase in allowable absolute deviation from real damage value, a range of deviation from 5% to 20% is studied. In Fig. 2, damage severity estimated under 1% COV of material uncertainty shows significant impact on the ( ) for Case-II. Conversely, Case-I presents a consistent outcome across a wide range of damage severity. The impact of damage location is also shown in Fig. 2 for both cases, highlighting its influential role in determining ( ). After analysing 10 4 numbers of sample, in Case-I, it is seen that the mean of quantified damage varies from 1.32% for 7th story damage to 2.8% when damage is at 3rd story, in average of all COVs considered in this study. Similarly, in Case-II, it varies from 2.5% to 3.5%. Thus, both the formulations under consideration exhibit an increase in reliability with the shift of damage location towards free-end of the shear building.
