9. Conclusion A simple method of ultimate limit state assessment has been presented for hinge joints that provides a significantly improved resistance compared to the method in CS468 (2019). The conditions for application are also described, which require the integrity of the throat concrete to be checked but not the reinforcement. If the condition of the reinforcement can also be verified, then reference to further improved assessment methods is made.
