6. Industrial example The new integrated fatigue life analysis is used to define the new process for an industrial example. The complex process which was shown in section two is now possible in one single run without manual steps. Figure 14 shows the blurred confidential model and the characteristic data. The details of what the model looks like are not crucial here, but rather the characteristic data, as the focus is on improving the process. The 1.7 million degrees of freedom, which are processed in 41 load steps and 70 fatigue analyses, have the greatest significance.
Fig. 14. Blurred model to visualize complexity of the structure (detailed model is confidential) and model data of industrial example.
The complete process organization is done by the FE solver. At the beginning the model is read, then the time step history load spectra are created, followed by the individual damage results for the different load levels based on accurate stress gradient data. The damage results for all load levels are collected and combined with individual number of cycles to the total damage result.
Fig. 15. Drastic reduced runtime with new failsafe integrated process.
The run time of the old process cannot be measured exactly, as many manual interventions were necessary. Overall, however, many hours were always necessary, in which working time and computational time were extensively
