6. Conclusion Finite element analyses were carried out to predict the internal pressure capacity of GFRP in different GF thickness of 3.3 mm (27 GF layers), 2.2 mm (14 GF layers) and 1.1 mm (8 GF layers) and fibre orientations. FEA results were validated against theoretical/numerical analysis with an assumed materials to ensure the FEA prediction producing good results. Overall, from the parametric study, GFRP with 45° fiber orientation works more efficiently than those with 0/90°. If the internal pressure increases, either the thickness of glass fibre should increase, or fiber orientation should be changed from 0/90° to 45° to reduce the stress on glass fibre layers. For the pipelines from 6 MPa to 10 MPa, the thickness of glass fibre should be at least 2.2 mm to ensure the operating internal pressure less than 50% while for pipelines under 6 MPa, the thickness of glass fibre can be under 2.2 mm. Future works will be conducted to experimentally validate the current findings and to understand the performance of RTPs under combined internal pressure and bending actions.
