A computation model has been built for (residual) lifetime determination of a long-range field sprayer boom under manoeuvre loading that corresponds to its oscillations. Moreover, computational models of crack initiation and subcritical propagation have been formulated. In this case, the boom oscillations are approximately taken to be cyclic, and the shocks due to obstacle crossings are mathematically modelled by the delta-function. In addition, a computational model has been built for lifetime prediction under the action of manoeuvre loading and corrosive environment – a solution of insecticide Nurelle D. Numerical calculations at given operating conditions have shown that the manoeuvre loading and consideration of the action of the corrosive medium reduce the boom lifetime as compared to its standard operation time. © 2022 The Authors.
