Observing the hoop stress distribution and the result caused by it on the fracture behaviour, i.e., the formation of a vertical fracture step showing a fracture surface made by oriented and enlarged cleavage (Fig. 6), it can be established that the anisotropic fracture behaviour buy longitudinal splitting or delamination is promoted by the cleavage hoop stress .
