The calculations were carried for two options of location of piezoelectric elements in relation to the plate (in the middle of the plate and nearby the clamped edge) and two options of mutual arrangement of a piezoelectric element and a viscoelastic layer (at one side of the plate and at opposite sides). One was demonstrated that damping coefficients for the first two the most energy-intensive vibration modes can be increased in different degree by using different mechanisms of energy dissipation. In this case the most preferable configuration for reaching the highest value of vibration damping coefficients is the option when piezoelectric element and viscoelastic layer located at opposite sides of the plate. © 2021 The Authors. Introduction Resonant modes of vibrations are dominant in response of mechanical structures on a dynamic impact. Differentapproaches are used to damp vibrations at these modes.
