maximum strain value, in this case, is 0.0008612, and the lowest is 0.0003004. The lowest minimum safety factor value is obtained 4.837 for the thickness of 0.9 mm, and the highest is 12.990 for 1.4 mm.

Fig. 6. Max. Displacement simulation result (material CFRP, load 700 N): (a) Thickness 0.9 mm; and (b) Thickness 1.4 mm.

On the same case discussed, which is CFRP, the applied material, and 700 N on the load applied with a material thickness of the chassis varied. Fig. 6 shows that the maximum displacement value, either the thickness 0.9 mm or the thickness 1.4 mm, occurs at the same location where the force applied. The displacement on the structure with 0.9 mm of thickness is about 20% larger than the displacement of the 1.4 mm thickness. It indicates that the value of displacement will decrease along with the increase of the structure thickness.

Fig. 8. Summary of thickness effects to chassis performance.

Based on the effect of thickness, on the simulation case of CFRP on the material type used and 700 N of load applied on the chassis and the material thickness varied. Fig. 7 shows that a structure with 0.9 mm thickness has more strain value than the 1.4 mm. This value indicates that the less the thickness the structure has, the higher the strain value will be. From the data of the simulation result, one case chooses to highlight the effect of thicknesses on the alternative urban vehicle chassis. The case of CFRP of the material type used, 700 N of load applied on the frame, and the material thickness varied randomly. Fig. 8 shows the behavior of the changes in thickness, which is a higher safety factor that has less stress, displacement, and strain. This tendency is linear for 1.4 mm and 0.9 mm thickness.
