In the sequel, from the computational analysis the ratio of the shear strength of a pentamode G c over the shear strength of a typical isolator G r , (G c /G r ) is presented under small and large displacements finite element analyses for the two materials steel and polymer ( Figures 4, 5 ), where the plot in Figure 5 is logarithmic. It can be concluded that the use of large displacements analysis gives higher values for the steel, and lower values for the polymer.

For the different diameters of pentamodes (D, d), with height (4 ∗ a), in the case of small displacements finite element analyses, the results for the forces in the nodes at the bottom of the pentamode and the calculation of the ratio G c /G r are given in Figures 6 and 7. The results in Figure 7 are presented in a logarithmic plot.
