Currently, the European technical committees and fib Commissions discussed and benchmarked the durability calculation based on deemed-to-satisfy rules. It is intended to replace them with PBD in future standards, see Helland et al. (2016), FIB Model Code 2010, Andrade (2016). Even with improvements in the codes, it is important to consider the latest research and analyze the available data. The data are collected regularly via inspections on the bridges. However, the highway agencies do not usually properly analyze the data and deduct new and important connections and conclusions, which could lead to the improvement of the design of structures from the durability point. Therefore, solving of this issue could be another possible role of academia; to help process the data, study the cases, and inform the engineering community. This paper aims to analyze the data from regular inspections of the main road and motorway bridges for the corrosion-related durability aspects. The subjects of inspection and analysis are 14 bridges; 9 of them are main road bridges and 5 of them are motorway bridges. Namely, the main road bridges - the bridge no. 54-040 over a brook that was built in 1937 and inspected in 2014, the bridge no. 55I-026a over a local road built in 1976 and inspected in 2014, the bridge no. 55I-030 over a river built in 1953 and inspected in 2015, the bridge no. 55-033 over a river built in 1963 and inspected in 2016, and bridge no. 57-039 over a river built in 1985 and inspected in 2013, the bridge no. 351-026 over a local road and railway built in 1995 and inspected in 2018, the bridge no. 70-007 over a brook built in 1964 and inspected in 2014 and bridges no. 50-003.1, 50-003.2 over a road built in 1980 and inspected in 2018. And the motorway bridges - the bridge no. D1 248 over a road built in 1983 and inspected in 2014, the bridge no. D2-054 over a railway built in 1980 and inspected in 2009, the bridge no. D2-046 over a local and a dirt road and railway built in 1980 and inspected in 2012, the bridge no. D2-002 over a river built in 1978 and inspected in 2015, the bridge no. D1-250 over a motorway built in 1983 and inspected in 2015. The details of the bridges are given in Table 1.

The field data have been taken during the regular inspection from the properly selected locations of the core samples. However, the sampling of cores causes local damage to the construction, and also it is quite a time consuming, labor-wise, and expensive process. Therefore, the number of cores from a specific part of the construction is often limited, if there even is any. It is necessary to develop and establish more advanced and faster but reliable techniques for the effective detection of corrosion-related deterioration. Examples of the promising approaches are based on electrochemical tests, e.g., on Linear polarization method and Electrical Impedance spectroscopy, see Jasielec et al. (2017), Jas̈niok (2015). The selection of the locations and the number of sampled cores vary for the individual bridges. One should note that if only one location for sampling is selected, then the quality of the analysis results is not sufficient. Therefore, this study also observes the effect of the location on the quality and significance of the results, and the critical parts of the examined bridges are localized.
