5. Conclusions A historical analysis of metallic bridges has been proposed including a set of 37 selected bridges. The SIA fatigue curve (  c =80MPa, constant amplitude fatigue limit at 58 MPa) has been chosen to define an acceptable fatigue range between 0 and 43 MPa. The determination of stringers likely to be sensitive to fatigue shows a good agreement with the SNCF historical inventory of repairs. An aggressiveness index has also been proposed. It shows that the 1891 train is not damaging for the studied bridges and the damage begins with the 1915 train. A prospect for this work would be to extend this aggressiveness index by taking into account an estimation of the number of cycles to failure.
