Fig. 20-22 show the realized accelerations at X , Y and Z directions. The acceleration magnitudes measured at the Z direction are higher than the other two orthogonal directions, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they cause more damage. In structural dynamics the frequency content of the loads need to be compared to the natural frequencies (and mode shapes) of the structure. And this is precisely why the power spectral density representation is so useful, as a quick visual investigation can reveal the frequency ranges that are affected the most.
