5. Conclusion and perspectives

Different methods are proposed as a general state of the art in this paper. From early development of a product to experimental validation passing by operational behaviour assessment, ability to reduce costs and time of reliability demonstration lies essentially on engineer’s assumption or knowledge of their products. These methods certainly need an upstream investment to collect and process data, but likely reduce the test program to a strictly needed. Gain could also be obtained by detecting a problem and then react sooner. Since reliability targets are always increasing for consumer comfort or for safety reason, test program should thus become stronger and stronger and tuning it with such methods would make the reliability specification affordable, until a certain limit… The different method pointed out in this paper have already been applied, fully or partially) on industrial cases. Results are however confidential and cannot be disclosed. CETIM is working on new cases with lower confidentiality level and results may be published in another paper. [1] Villemeur, A., 1988.
