3.2 Charpy impact test results

The average values of the three tests for all three directions are presented as bar chart in Fig. 7.

Charpy impact strength of SF route material, at higher hardness is approximately 31.7%, 10.3% and 45.3% lower than that of CR in longitudinal, transverse and short transverse directions, respectively. But, the same at lower hardness level is approximately 3%, 42.2% and 7.8% lower for SF route as compared to that of CR.

3.3 Fracture toughness test results

Fracture toughness, K IC test was conducted under load controlled mode according to ASTM E399 standard. A minimum of three samples each in TS and LS orientations from both materials were tested. Average values of the three tests for each route material and for both LS and TS orientation are presented in Fig. 8.
