5. Conclusion In this study, the stress intensity factor at the tip of a crack near an inclusion was evaluated by solving a singular integral equation. The fundamental solution, which was obtained by Dundurs and Mura, was applied to the interaction between the press-fitted inclusion and the edge dislocation. The new algorithm developed here demonstrated that the crack tip progresses automatically in the direction of the zero stress intensity factor K II . This algorithm allows us to precisely predict a crack propagation path, and to quickly determine the size and location of a hole. Using the developed program, the influence of the crack location on a crack path was examined. It was found that crack deflection is influenced when a crack tip approaches the circular inclusion.
