Appendix: Rules of Competitions
Competition-1 (1) Prevent crack propagation beyond 250mm from tube center at each direction. (2) Internal pressure: 0.01MPa (3) Pipe shall not be touched within 300mm from the center. No alteration of pipe is allowed within 300mm from center. (4) Explain principle of the proposed crack arrest method, prior to the test. Competion-2 (1) Arrest a crack using crack arrestors (rubber bands). (2) Minimize the value (number of rubber bands used) times (arrest crack length). ・ Internal pressure : 0.01MPa ・ Each rubber band shall be two-fold. Max. 2 rubber bands at each position. ・ Crack arrestors shall be positioned within100mm to 800mm from crack initiation point. ・ Crack arrestors shall be positioned 50mm or more apart from each other. ・ Crack arrestors must be installed at 0.01MPa.
