Having in mind that this is significant share, patents of contemporary Serbian inventors and scientists in this field are presented in Table 1, as they contribute to the life and safety of structures. In addition, this work complements the research on the continuity in the application of exceptional technical solutions of Serbian scientists in the field of civil engineering, namely previous research which covers achievements of Roger Boscovich at the end of the 18 th century, then Milutin Milanković at the turn of the 19 th and 20 th century, Branko Žeželj in the second half of the 20 th century, and contemporary inventors and scientists with significant achievements in the 21 st century (Jelić, 2017a; Jelic 2017b). In that respect, and having in mind that Branko Žeželj was one of the founders and long-time principal of the Institute for TestingMaterial of the Republic of Serbia (IMS Institute), this work gives overview of the application of patented inventions created in 21 st century of two Serbian scientists and civil engineers Zoran Petrašković PhD and Nenad Šušić PhD, who have gained p rofessional experience in the IMS Institute.

Inventions of Nenad Šušić are protected with petty patent, and therefore are not visible in Table 1, which presents granted patents for inventions of Serbian inventors. Neverthel es, achievements of Nenad Šušić are significant, and application of his patented inventions which were created in 21 st century are presented in the third part of this work. Creation of invention is based on the date of filling of patent application, and da ta about patented inventions of Zoran Petrašković and Nenad Šušić are extracted from Serbian national patent data base MIMOSA RS.
