significant contribution equal to 42.38% of the overall significance. The models created can explain the investigated parameters’ variation to the percentages of 99.44%, 97.29% and 96.76% for main cutting force Fc , arithmetic surface roughness Ra and maximum height of profile Rt respectively. Looking further ahead, the authors are to investigate soft computing techniques and evolutionary algorithms to optimize the turning process of CuZn39Pb3 brass alloy. The regression models generated by the experiments con ducted in this work are to serve as fitness functions for several variants of genetic-evolutionary algorithms to examine the optimization potentials and compare the results to be obtained by the different heuristics.
