• The stress increase arising from the local stress-concentration features can lead to a significant build-up of creep strain over a period of time, eventually leading to the failure initiations from these locations. • The simulations highlight significant redistribution and relaxation of stresses around the stress concentration features due to creep. 5. Plan for further work The simulation framework presented in this paper will be expanded to cover the following enhancement, which are expected to result in more adequate models. • Effect of inclusion of matrix plasticity on the model behaviour will be studied. • Effect of modelling the graphite particles as solids will be studied. This is expected to produce a more realistic stress redistribution around the graphite particles compared to that presented in this paper. • Additional geometries will be considered for the graphite particles observed in CGI material. • The effect of tensile and compressive loading regimes will be assessed.
