L. da Vinci 32, 20133 Milan, Italy c Tecnoindagini Srl, Via Monte Sabotino 14, 20095 Cusano Milanino (MI), Italy Abstract Within a recent project between Politecnico di Milano and Regione Lombardia, a methodology was developed for the structural/hydraulic risk assessment and monitoring of bridges. In the paper, the methodology is applied to a historical masonry arch bridge called the Candia bridge. The bridge is known to be affected by riverbed erosion; consequently, the definition of a monitoring system to detect scour-induced effects is addressed. In the present study, measurements of the pier rotations are performed using tiltmeters; in addition, environmental parameters (such as temperature, water level and riverbed changes) are monitored to check possible correlation with the measured rotations. The results from the first two years of monitoring highlight anomalous changes in the rotation-temperature correlation of various piers. © 2024 The Authors. Published by ELSEVIER B.V.
