Fig. 3 also shows the DTM of the area under study, with a zoom on the zone of the two bridges and of the check- dam, where the computational mesh is represented. The event that occurred during 4-6 June 2020 was characterized by heavy rains in the main tributary of river Torre, river Natisone: Fig. 4 shows the stage hydrographs for the measurement stations of Zompitta (for Torre) and Cividale (for Natisone). Fig. 5 shows some pictures taken after the flood occurred.

The flood determined a partial collapse of the check-dam, whose central portion was progressively excised by tipping, see Fig. 5a. A sudden morphodynamic evolution of the river bed started: first of all, the material upstream of the check-dam gradually began to flow downstream, increasing the tipping of the structure and determining an
