The microstructure of both materials was observed using TESCAN Lyra3 the scanning electron microscope in back scattered electrons (BSE) mode. Figures 1 and 2 show the microstructure of both steels with austenitic grains, and a higher density of  -ferrite particles (indicated by black arrows) in 1.4306 steel. Fig. 2 shows details of the microstructure with annealing twins indicated by white arrows. Vertical direction corresponds to the direction of rolling.
