The research develops a methodology that combines Building Information Modelling (BIM), the Internet of Things (IoT) and Machine Learning (ML), with the aim of enabling predictive and dynamic infrastructure management through the creation of Digital Twins. The methodology is applied to two case studies of bridges in Italy, currently under monitoring. The implementation focuses on the initial stages of the process: digital modelling of the structures (with the creation of BIM models containing static data), installation of sensors for real-time collection of dynamic data, and integration of information for the generation of an operational Digital Twin. This unified model allows both the management of alert systems based on predefined thresholds and the processing of in-depth structural diagnoses to support maintenance planning. The proposed methodology also represents a strategic step towards the development of advanced predictive models, promoting a more proactive, efficient and sustainable approach to maintenance. 1.
