5. Conclusions This paper presents the application of an integrated design approach, which combines numerical analyses with structural and geotechnical monitoring, during the execution phase of slope stabilization works aimed at protecting a motorway infrastructure. This approach proved to be particularly effective and well-suited to emergency conditions, where design decisions must be revised and adapted during construction based on real-time monitoring feedback about the actual slope behaviour. The continuous comparison between field measurements and numerical predictions made it possible to optimize the provisional construction phases and to carry out the interventions without compromising traffic operation or worker safety. Overall, the chosen monitoring system proved to be an effective tool for continuous slope control and for verifying the performance of the stabilization measures with respect to the numerical predictions. The presented case study demonstrates that, particularly when dealing with strategic infrastructures threatened by hydro-geological instabilities, an integrated approach based on monitoring and numerical analyses represents a key instrument for the early detection of potential instability issues and for supporting informed decision-making during both construction and post construction phases.
