At the conclusion of the intervention, a continuous monitoring system was designed, and will be installed shortly on the structure. It consists of triaxial accelerometers and biaxial inclinometers to monitor the effectiveness of the intervention and check the elements that were not currently subject to maintenance, such as the piers. The configuration of the sensors to be installed is shown in Fig. 5.

The main purpose of the monitoring system will be to detect the dynamic behavior of the renovated bridge; it also allows to continue the research activity already started, to identify possible predictive models for the evolution of the structural performance decay process. At the moment, a monitoring period of 3 years has been planned due to the budget issues mentioned in the introduction. The goal is to continue with medium-to-long-term observations.
Details and critical aspects of the execution phase Although the project schedule predicted a work duration of about 9 months, the actual duration was about 16 months, including 9 months of complete traffic closure; this delay depended on a series of factors not directly attributable to the main actors, but it was the result of external dynamics impacting the progress of the works. The intervention included a first phase of consolidation of the three reinforced concrete trestles and the slab, to be conducted under non-alternating one-way traffic conditions; this first phase was preparatory to a second phase under
