The following figures illustrate the ΔP distributions along the foundation piles under three conditions: no scour (Fig. 3), generalized scour (Fig. 4), and localized scour (Fig. 5). For space constraints, the distributions corresponding to scour depths of 1.5 m and 4.5 m are not included. Fig. 2. Comparison between the hydrostatic pressure distribution and the distribution resulting from the seepage-flow simulation. On the left: horizontal distribution of ΔP along the base of the footing; on the right: vertical distributions of ΔP at the three locations identified in the plan view in Fig. 1 (left).
Fig. 3. Distribution of the pressure variation ΔP along the four foundation piles (upstream, downstream, and lateral) modeled in FLAC3D under no-scour conditions. Line colors correspond to the colors of the piles shown in the foundation plan.
Fig. 4. Distribution of the pressure variation ΔP along the four foundation piles (upstream, downstream, and lateral) modeled in FLAC3D under the 3-m general scour condition. Line colors correspond to the colors of the piles shown in the foundation plan.
