The “Landscape and Environmental Integration Study” compares current photographic views with simulations showing the walkway in place, to evaluate its visual impact. Integrating the drainage channels into the walkway structure (previously they were fixed to the masonry) results in a cleaner aesthetic in which the steel frame blends harmoniously with the structure.

5. CONSTRUCTION SITE ORGANISATION All designed works are accessible only via the railway; therefore, construction requires the use of railway wagons and locomotives, according to a schedule of service suspensions/interruptions. For example, for the Barcola viaduct: • 30 days of 24-hour interruption of one track (either even or odd), followed by 30 days of 24-hour interruption of the other track; • 3 line interruptions of 20 hours on days 1, 30 and 60; • 35 night-time line interruptions of 240 minutes on the remaining days. The operational base will be located within the railway areas of Trieste station, near all three structures. Offices, equipment, vehicles and storage areas will be located there, and work convoys—organized as site trains—will shuttle to the viaduct area, using the track closed for 30 days and both tracks during the nightly 4-hour interruption windows authorised by RFI.
