etc. The Limited-Budget Algorithm, on the other hand, maximizes the benefit—defined as the improvement in the Health Index of the element relative to the cost of the selected interventions—while respecting the spending limit defined by the user. A priority coefficient is computed, ranking interventions to: maximize the average Health Index; minimize its standard deviation thus ensuring the best overall performance under budget constraints. The application as an integration tool for planning To ensure a technical-scientific and structured approach to infrastructure management, improving the sustainability and efficiency of maintenance operations methodologies described in the previous chapter are integrated into a decision-support workflow based on the following features of the application:Selection of the Highway Agency and the chosen highway section; Definition of maintenance programs and scenarios: selection of the chainages to be included in the program, simulation period, type of asset, and additional parameters; Simulation of the evolution of structural deterioration over time; Comparison of alternative strategies to support decisions based on technical and economic criteria.
