6. Interpretations Fig.2 -5 represent the residual transverse stresses of the composite laminate through thickness. The first point to note about the stress curves is that they are not symmetrical with respect to Z axis, despite the fact that the layers of the laminate are symmetrical. The behavior is mainly driven by the moisture concentration distribution determined by the environment of the two facets of the laminate; the most aggressive side in terms of stress is related to the environment of a high moisture content. The results analysis shows the dependence of the stress state and the environmental parameters, the magnitude order of the hygroscopic stresses is much higher than the thermal stresses.
