 Both deformations and surface corrosion were within limits allowed by relevant standards, for all measuring locations.  The combination of API procedures for structural integrity and state-of-the-art NDT methods provides a reliable means of assessing the safety of pressure vessels. Future research on this subject should include additional approaches, namely the aforementioned numerical methods (finite element method) and various fracture mechanics principles. Of course, this methodology is applicable to different types of materials and pressure equipment, further expanding its potential uses.
