Keywords: wood; beam; carrying capacity; crack; stressed-deformed state 1. Introduction The physical and mechanical properties of wood can be variable (Sinha et al. (2012),Homon et al. (2023), Albrektas et al. (2020), Gomon et al. (2023), Gong et al. (2019), Yasniy et al. (2022)). They depend on the aggressiveness of the environment (Homon et al. (2023), Thygesen et al. (2010), Janiak et al. (2023), Huang et al. (2006), Roshchuk et al. (2024), Fojtik (2019)), load level (Gomon et al. (2022), Galicki and Czech (2005), Aleksiievets,et al. (2024), Green and Kretschmann (1992), Homon et al. (2024), Landis et al. (2002)), damage that occurred during operation (Datsiuk et al. (2024), Patton-Mallory and Cramer (1987)). The most common load-bearing wooden elements are beams (Zhou Abstract The results of experimental studies of glued wooden beams with through cracks along the neutral axis are presented. The distribution of tangential stresses along the height of beams in different cross-sections has been established. The distribution of normal stresses along the length of the studied beams was obtained. Diagrams of relative displacements of the edges of cracks in beams and their increments were constructed. The bearing capacity of glued wooden beams is established. © 2026 The Authors. Published by ELSEVIER B.V.
