The test results of the HAZ are relevant for the further exploitation of the tested samples. Relatively low resistance to the appearance of cracks, i.e. increased tendency to brittle fracture may be an acceptance criterion for use at lower temperatures. In general, the HAZ of both tested samples has poor crack resistance. Better mechanical properties were obtained in the HAZ of steel P460, which justifies its use and substitution of steel S235 in the production of welded pressure vessel dish ends.
