awarded as a "historic landmark of the art of engineering in Germany" by the Federal Chamber of Engineers in September 2022. In the scope of the “ PP 88H P - Extending the service life of complex building structures through intelligent digitalization ” : PP + , German Research Foundation (DFG), the Nibelungen Bridge in Worms was selected as a validation structure. As a consequence, an initial Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) based digital twin strategy has been accordingly developed, see Fig. 4. However, all the measures are only applied to a pilot area that includes the first two spans of the entire river bridge due to budget constraints.
